Cubs Corner Podcast with Bob Fiorante: Banning the shift, pitch count, size of bases, more

by - Staff Writer -

The newest episode of the Cubs Corner featured Anthony and Bob talking about the latest rule changes in the MLB. The conversation began by talking about the rules that have been implemented recently: three-batter minimum, universal designated hitter, expanded playoffs, draft lottery, seven-inning double headers, runner on second base in extra innings and more. The pair offered their opinions on which rules they like, which should stay, and which should go.

This season the MLB is introducing three new rules: expanding the sizes of bases, banning the defensive shift, and implementing a pitch clock to speed up play.

The pair discussed these rules, broke them down, analyzed the early statistics in Spring Training, and offered their thoughts on what these rules may mean for the game moving forward.

That and more on this edition of the Cubs Corner, available on the CUBSHQ website, apple podcasts, and SoundCloud.
