Cubs News: Maddon provides postgame update on Bryant's injury status |
DENVER — Speaking after Sunday's thriller between the Chicago Cubs and the Colorado Rockies, Cubs skipper Joe Maddon provided some positive news concerning starting third baseman Kris Bryant.
Bryant left the game in the first inning after getting hit in the helmet by an errant pitch from Rockies starter German Marquez. #Cubs @ #Rockies Fortunately, Bryant passed preliminary testing during the course of the afternoon, and, following the contest, Maddon told reporters, "I haven't heard the word concussion yet." Going on to say that Bryant's situation is "hopefully, very good," Maddon seemed upbeat concerning the outlook for his superstar slugger, which bodes well for the Cubs moving forward. As you can see in this image, the pitch which hit Bryant actually cracked the brim of his helmet. Scary stuff. #GetWellSoonKB @Cubs pic.twitter.com/k7VPTbwIUi
