by - Senior Editor -

It's all now a waiting game as 23-year old phenom Shoehei Ohtani will pick his future home in the majors.

ESPN senior writer Buster Olney was on ESPN 1000 on Friday afternoon and shared that Cubs management feel good about their chances of signing the international superstar.

"I’m not gonna pretend that I know what team he’s going to pick, but I will tell you that there are folks in the game who, in conversations with the Cubs, they think the Cubs are feeling really good about their chances," Olney said.

The Cubs feel like they made a really great presentation. They feel really good about that."

Never underestimate Theo Epstein's ability to sell a player to his team.

"Out of respect for the player and the process, I will let any information come from the agency,” Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein said Thursday. "I think that is the proper thing to do."

Update: According to his agents at CAA, Ohtani has decided to play for the Anaheim Angels.

In 2017, Ohtani batted .332 with eight home runs in 65 games. For his professional career, he has hit .283 with 48 homers and 166 RBIs in 403 games. As a pitcher during his career, he has a 42-15 record with a 2.52 ERA and 1.08 WHIP.
