WATCH: Bote discusses what has made him successful this season

KANSAS CITY — Speaking after a solid performance against the Kansas City Royals, in which he went 2-3 and drove in three runs, rookie Chicago Cubs third baseman David Bote talked about what has enabled him to consistently perform well this season.

"It's just trusting my ability and what my preparation is," Bote told reporters. "That's kind of what it is. And just going after it."

Despite being called up from and sent down to the minors multiple times since making his Cubs debut in late April, Bote has, for the most part, thrived in his multitudinous big-league stints this year.

"The nerves are always there," Bote shared when discussing what his rookie experience has been like. "The adrenaline's there. Being able to use that in a positive way is key. And being able to use those emotions into a good avenue and being able to put a positive spin on it and execute."

Producing a .344 batting average through his 29 games played in a Cubs uniform this season, Bote has certainly made the case for becoming a regular member of the 25-man roster for the remainder of this season and beyond.
