Cubs News: Ben Zobrist injury update

by - Senior Editor -

Chicago Cubs second baseman Ben Zobrist is out of the starting lineup for Sunday's game with the Los Angeles Dodgers because of a wrist injury.

Zobrist actually hurt his left wrist on a swing on Friday against the Los Angeles Dodgers but hopes to be back in the starting lineup on Monday. He will try to test his wrist on Sunday afternoon and let Joe Maddon know if he will be available to pinch-hit in the later innings according to ESPN's Jesse Rogers.

The Cubs will miss his veteran bat in the lineup, especially at the leadoff position because he appeared to very comfortable the last few games a table setter for the Cubs sluggers that followed him in the batting order.

In 2017, he is batting .261 with six homers, 18 RBI, and .352 on-base percentage. For his career, he has batted .266 with 151 homers, 661 RBI, and .358 on-base percentage.
