The Chicago Cubs played against the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday afternoon at Cashman Field in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, hours before, the Cubs' team bus was extremely fortunate to leave the hotel at the Cosmopolitan on the Vegas strip because of a four-hour standoff occurred between a shooter and the police.

The Cubs missed the shootout incident outside of their hotel by a matter of a few minutes.

"I didn't know what was going on until the guys showed up," Albert Almora Jr. told the Chicago-Sun-Times. "It's pretty crazy."

One person was killed, and another person was injured during the shooting according to multiple reports.

Eventually, the shooter surrendered and was taken into custody by the police.

"I was going to try and hit the casino (Saturday night)," Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks said. "I might just lock up in my room tonight."

The actual baseball game ended with the Cubs winning 11-7 with hometown hero Kris Bryant hitting a home run to the excited crowd of 11,455 fans.
