Cubs News: Kris Bryant finishes 7th in NL MVP voting

by - Senior Editor -

Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant finished seventh place in the NL MVP voting announced by MLB on Wednesday night.

Bryant had a first-place vote and a third place vote with 132 total points. In 2017, Bryant batted .295 with 29 homers, 73 RBI, and .409 on-base percentage. He was fifth in the league with 111 runs, third in walks (95), and seventh in OPS (.946).

The winner of the National League MVP Award was Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton with 302 points as he edged Joey Votto by only two points (300).

The rest of the top six was Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, Charlie Blackmon, and Anthony Rendon.

Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo was 13th in the MVP voting.

In 2017, Rizzo batted .273 with 32 homers and 109 RBI which was a little low in my opinion.
