Cubs News: Lawsuit claims Theo Epstein left excessive dog pee in scorpion-infested rental

Scorpions and Dog Pee Oh My!

Chicago Cubs President of Operations Theo Epstein probably didn't need a new lawsuit when he is busy trying to find the next Cubs manager to lead them in 2020 and beyond.

A lawsuit was filed Tuesday in Maricopa County according to the Phoenix New Times that said Epstein rented a $1 million house in Paradise Valley, Arizona during spring training 2015 and his dog Winston peed so much that it left a "terrible odor and urine-stained carpeting" and "penetrated through the carpeting and pad to the slab."

In February 2017, the landlords sent Epstein a bill for $51,405, but it has not been paid according to the report.

Julian Green, vice president of communications for the Chicago Cubs, said the lawsuit is "baseless."

"This frivolous lawsuit would have you believe a 10-pound rescue puppy transformed into a nightmarish Levitán from the 1984 Alice Cooper horror movie and went on a rampage in a rental property," Green said. "The truth is the real horror story was the house and inhabited creatures that put this family at risk every time they put their children to sleep."

Another wild twist to this story is that Epstein got an extermination report that there were 45 Arizona bark scorpions on the property close to his infant son. The Epsteins moved out of the house in March after seeing the scorpion infestation.

As someone as a parent, I would be outraged if there were scorpions on the property that were endangering my infant.
