MLB Network analyst thinks Baez is currently No. 1 for NL MVP

Javy Baez has had a magical season in 2018.

MLB Network's Dan Plesac spoke about 'El Mago' on MLB Tonight and said that he is one of the main frontrunners for National League MVP.

"Javy Baez might be the best player in the National League," he said. "This guy is the real deal. He plays with a lot of energy. When you watch this guy, he has a little bit of Yasiel Puig in him where he gonna run until you tag him, he is going to swing hard and swing often."

Plesac continued to say that Baez was able to carry the Cubs during the first couple of months when all their stars were struggling at the plate.

"Right now he is (No.1 NL MVP). Javier Baez kept this club offense going when they weren't scoring a lot of runs the first couple months of the year. He brings excitement and he brings a great glove."

For the season, he is batting .290 with 25 homers (7th in NL) and 89 RBIs (1st in NL).
