Report: David Ross might get interview with Yankees

by - Senior Editor -

The New York Yankees surprisingly fired Joe Girardi after an impressive 91-71 regular season but fell to the eventual World Series Champion Houston Astros in the 2017 ALCS.

Now, what is the next move for the Yankees? According to ESPN senior writer Buster Olney, the Yankees have contacted ESPN commentator Aaron Boone for an interview and are also thinking about giving his colleague and former Chicago Cubs catcher David Ross an interview too.

Ross told ESPN that he has not yet heard from the Yankees as of Friday morning.

Let's hope that the Yankees don't call him because he is a valuable member of the Cubs organization and one of the most beloved by fans.

Ross is currently a special assistant with Theo Epstein in baseball operations.

"I think he’s going to get more involved in that role every year,” Hoyer said on NBC Sports Chicago’s Cubs Talk Podcast. “With David, he probably wanted a more relaxing first year away from baseball, and to get a chance to spend more time with his family. That just didn’t happen, because he became too popular."
