Russell out with injury vs. Indians |
The Chicago Cubs will play a spring training game against the Cleveland Indians at 1:05 pm CT on Friday afternoon. Cubs veteran pitcher John Lackey will take the mound for the defending World Champions.
However, star shortstop is a late scratch to the Cubs lineup with a stiff back. Hopefully, this injury is just precautionary and will not linger into the start of the season. In 2016, Russell batted .238 with 21 homers, 95 RBIs, and an on-base percentage of .321. During the 2016 postseason, he had three homers and 13 RBIs.
