Schwarber signs pre-arbitration contract with Cubs |
Schwarbs just got a VERY healthy raise.
Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber has reportedly agreed to a one-year guaranteed deal worth $3.39 million with the Cubs. He will be under team control until after the 2021 season. Schwarber made $604,500 last season. The move was made to avoid arbitration for both sides and today at 12 p.m. CT was the deadline for new salaries for arbitration-eligible players including Cubs players Javier Baez, Kris Bryant, C.J. Edwards, Mike Montgomery, Kyle Hendricks, and Addison Russell. Schwarber hit .238 with 26 homers, an .823 OPS, and 61 RBIs last season. For this career, the 25-year old is hitting .228 with 72 homers, 163 RBIs, and an on-base percentage of .339. Cubs pitcher Kyle Hendricks settled for 7.405 million with the Cubs earlier this morning. #Cubs19For19: Is this the season Kyle Schwarber reaches his full potential? pic.twitter.com/LGxnM3z9UY
