WATCH: Bote takes Stephen Strasburg deep on first pitch of sixth inning

by - Senior Writer -

Chicago Cubs third baseman David Bote entered Saturday's contest between the Cubs and the Washington Nationals bearing the burden of a pair of 0-for-4 outings from his previous two starts. Bote was able to snap out of the slump with one swing of the bat to lead off the top of the sixth, however, as he went yard for fourth time this season.

The first extra-base hit of the evening for the Cubs, the 389-foot dinger came on the first pitch of the sixth inning, as Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg was taken deep on a fastball. Bote's solo blast left the bat at 96 miles per hour and sailed out to left-center at a launch angle of 27 degrees. The dinger made the score 5-2, with the Nationals in front.
