CHICAGO — Providing the Chicago Cubs with new life, Cubs left fielder Kyle Schwarber skied a 2-run blast off former Cubs reliever Fernando Rodney in the bottom of the eighth on Sunday. The game-tying bomb at Wrigley Field knotted the score at five runs apiece.

Driving a 415-foot blast out to left field, Schwarber tied up the Washington Nationals with two outs in the frame, making the score 5-5. Leaving the bat at 109 miles per hour and 32 degrees, Schwarber's 30th long ball of the year plated Cubs shortstop Javier Baez, who walked in the previous plate appearance.
