The Chicago Cubs traded Eloy Jimenez, Dylan Cease and two other prospects to get lefty starter Jose Quintana from the crosstown White Sox on Thursday.

However, other news is coming out of the trade announcement as Theo Epstein told reporters that when he spoke with the White Sox about ace Chris Sale last season that they wanted Kris Bryant part of a package of players for the now Red Sox pitcher.

Of course, that shut down trade talks fast between the two parties as Epstein didn't even further investigate trade talks with their star slugger.

Bryant went on to win the National League MVP last season.

In 2017, Bryant is batting .269 with 18 homers, 38 RBI, and .399 on-base percentage. For his short major league career, he is batting .281 with 83 homers, 239 RBI, and .382 on-base percentage.
