Cubs lineup for World Series on Wednesday night

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs will face off against the Cleveland Indians in game two of the World Series on Wednesday night at 6:08 CT on Fox.

The big news is that Willson Contreras will get the start as a rookie at catcher. The Cubs are the fourth team in MLB history to start three catchers in one postseason series which they accomplished against the Giants. In keeping with the young movement in the lineup, slugger Jorge Soler gets a chance to shine with a spot start in right field over veterans Jason Heyward and Chris Coghlan. Kyle Schwarber continues his incredible comeback from a torn ACL with the start at DH.

This is one of the Cubs strongest lineups with shortstop Addison Russell batting #9th. The Cubs will have six players 24 or younger in the starting lineup which is a new postseason record.

Jake Arrieta will take the mound against Trevor Bauer. The last two seasons after a Cubs loss, Arrieta is 17-4 with a 2.58 ERA.

Cubs lineup:

Dexter Fowler CF

Kris Bryant 3B

Anthony Rizzo 1B

Ben Zobrist LF

Kyle Schwarber DH

Javier Baez 2B

Willson Contreras C

Jorge Soler RF

Addison Russell
