Cubs ranked in Top 3 of MLB team values

by - Senior Editor -

It's a good time to own a professional ballclub in 2018.

The Chicago Cubs' net worth has skyrocketed since the acquisition by the Ricketts family back in 2009 for a mere $700 million.

Forbes released their latest values for major league baseball teams as the Cubs were ranked No. 3 overall at 2.9 BILLION behind only the Yankees ($4 billion) and the Dodgers ($3 billion).

The 2.9 billion valuation for the Cubs is an 8 percent increase from last year.

In case you were wondering, the rival White Sox were ranked No. 14 overall at $1.5 billion (purchased for $20 million in 1981).

Six teams had negative operating income last year with the Marlins, Orioles, Tigers, Royals, Mariners, and Blue Jays.
