WATCH: Highlights from Cubs' walk-off win over Marlins |
CHICAGO, Ill. — Facing a 1-2 count with two outs and runners on first and third, Chicago Cubs (20-13) third baseman
Kris Bryant did not cave under pressure on Tuesday night at Wrigley Field. Instead, the superstar slugger tabbed his third career walk-off home run with a 404-foot 3-run blast beyond center field to lift the Cubs to a 5-2 win over the visiting Miami Marlins (10-25).
Bryant's sixth dinger of the season brought with it a seismic roar from the crowd in attendance and made up for the ninth-inning meltdown experienced by the Cubs in their loss to the Marlins on the previous night. Tuesday's contest was tied 2-2 at the conclusion of the third frame, and not another run was scored until Bryant ended the affair with one swing of the bat in the bottom of the ninth.
