WATCH: Leadoff Schwarbomb!!! Kyle Schwarber hits solo jack on first pitch |
CHICAGO — Newfound Chicago Cubs leadoff man
Kyle Schwarber has made a habit out of hitting leadoff blasts in the first inning since moving into the full-time leadoff role in recent weeks. However, Schwarber took it to another level by going deep on the first pitch faced by the Cubs against the rival Chicago White Sox on Tuesday.
A two-seamer thrown right down the pipe by White Sox starter Ivan Nova was sent into the outfield seats by Schwarber at the beginning of the bottom of the first. The 399-foot bomb marked Schwarber's 16th "Schwarbomb" of the season. Leaving Wrigley Field at 109 miles per hour, the liner sailed over the wall in left-center to give the Cubs an early 1-0 lead over the White Sox to kick off the Crosstown Classic. Mmm yes that’s the stuff. #EverybodyIn pic.twitter.com/5sFu9RQwtF
