WATCH: Schwarber guns down runner vs. Cardinals

The new and improved Kyle Schwarber experiment is working out well in 2018.

During Friday night's game against the Cardinals in the first inning, Schwarber threw a bullet to catcher Willson Contreras at home plate to nail the slow baserunner Matt Carpenter.

The Cardinals underestimated Schwarber's arm as they sent the runner by third base coach Jose Oquendo. Contreras tagged Carpenter on the hip as he didn't take a direct route to the bag.

It was a big play so far in the game as the Cardinals had a lot of momentum going but didn't score in the inning.
