Cubs News: Baez fired up: "Everyone running their mouth"

by - Senior Editor -

The Cubs are about to begin a highly-stressful National League Wild Card game that is a 'win or go home' situation.

The stakes can't be much higher as teammates Javier Baez and Albert Almora Jr. met the media before Tuesday night's crucial contest against the Colorado Rockies.

Baez appeared to have a chip on his shoulder talking about the situation that the Cubs have found themselves with one game possibly left in their season.

"You know, we got to stop worrying about other teams, he said. "We've got to go out there and have fun. We got to go out there and compete. If we do that, there’s no team that can beat us, and they know that, so that's why they run their mouth a lot, because they know we're the best. Even when we're struggling, we are the head of everybody.

Baez was asked who 'they' were that he was talking about.

"It doesn't matter, like everybody," he said. Everybody, fans. Who cares? I don't pay attention to it, but it's around us, and if we pay attention, we get in their trap."

It appears that Baez might have possibly seen the video of Jesus Aguilar talking trash to the Cubs on Monday or maybe he has been on Twitter and has seen some of the negativity with Cubs fans. Regardless, hopefully, a fired up Baez will help the Cubs stave off elimination today.
