Cardinals players reportedly visited casino before COVID-19 outbreak |
The St. Louis Cardinals are the latest MLB team to experience a COVID-19 outbreak.
The organization announced on Monday that 13 members of the club tested positive in the last week. As a result, the series between the Cardinals and the Detroit Tigers that was slated to take place at Comerica Park this week was postponed.
Rumors began circulating on Monday that several Cardinals players had recently visited a casino, leading to speculation that the virus was contracted that way. MLB Network insider Jon Heyman confirmed the news but also tweeted that there was no definitive proof that the casino visit caused the outbreak within the St. Louis organization. The Chicago Cubs are slated to pay a visit to Busch Stadium later this week for a three-game series against the Cardinals. As of now, that series has not been postponed.
