Cubs adding lefty reliever |
The Chicago Cubs are looking to shakeup their their bullpen.
Reportedly, the ballclub will be adding lefty reliever Justyn Steele to the active roster before tonight's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He has already been seen at Wrigley Field this morning. If the 25-year-old gets into game action tonight, it will be his major league debut. It should be interesting as the youngster has never pitched above Double-A but has real good stuff including a fastball that hits 95 MPH, a nice curveball, and a changeup. No word yet on the corresponding move that will need to be done so Steele will get a roster spot. Lefty Justin Steele just walked into Wrigley Field. @PJ_Mooney first on his promotion from the South Bend group. That and corresponding move yet to be announced by Cubs. Love the Cubs trying Justin Steele out of their bullpen. He’s stretched out to pitch multiple innings as a long reliever, but has a pitch profile to succeed in shorter stints against a couple lefties. The 2700-3000 rpm slider he’s worked really hard to add has been a gamechanger. The Cubs will be adding lefty Justin Steele to their active roster before today’s game against the Pirates at Wrigley Field, sources said. Steele, 25, will be in position to make his big-league debut as the Cubs try to figure out their bullpen. For those curious about Justin Steele:
25-year old lefty. Starter throughout MILB career, but injury and inconsistent command mean his future likely as reliever. Capable of 95-97, also a 2S, curve and change. Throws strikes, but prone to catching too much plate. Sort of lefty DUJ
