The Republican National Committee has announced that Chicago Cubs co-owner Tom Ricketts will be the finance chairman for President Trump's re-election campaign in 2020.
“I am honored to continue to support President Trump and the Republican Party through the Trump Victory Committee,” Ricketts said in a statement via the Chicago Sun-Times. “As we head toward 2020, I will work to ensure President Trump and his campaign have the resources they need to fight for the American people.”
The Ricketts' family bought a majority stake in the Cubs in 2009.
This new hire is so bizarre after Trump blasted the Ricketts' family back in 2016 with the following tweet:
I hear the Rickets family, who own the Chicago Cubs, are secretly spending $'s against me. They better be careful, they have a lot to hide!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 22, 2016
