ESPN forecasts Cubs to finish third place in NL Central

by - Senior Editor -

Opening day is here! It's time for regular season baseball finally after a long offseason.

Since it's basically a national holiday today with Opening Day, ESPN released their predictions for team's win-loss record for 2019.

ESPN's Keith Law is apparently not very high on the Cubs as he has them with only 84 wins and finishing third in the difficult NL Central.

"I probably feel the least confident in the Cubs' ability to do the same (player assets), especially with the decisions to send Ian Happ to Triple-A despite a .353 OBP last year, and their refusal to jettison Addison Russell this winter after his domestic violence suspension and year-plus of poor performance," ESPN.com said. "Their bullpen also looks like a serious problem, although that could change fairly quickly."

The Brewers were projected with 88 wins, followed by Cardinals (87), Cubs (84), Reds (84), and Pirates (75).
