Former Cubs scouting director Jared Porter placed on MLB Ineligible List

by - Senior Writer -

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred announced on Wednesday that former Chicago Cubs executive Jared Porter had been placed on the Ineligible List due to inappropriate conduct that violated league policies. Earlier this year, Porter was embroiled in a sexual harassment scandal and fired as the general manager of the New York Mets, thus sparking an MLB investigation into the matter. Porter will be eligible to apply for MLB reinstatement following the 2022 season.

In January, a bombshell ESPN report revealed that, while he was working as the Cubs' director of professional scouting in 2016, Porter sent 60-plus unsolicited text messages to a female journalist, many of which were sexual in nature, including an image displaying graphic nudity. The Mets subsequently fired Porter, and MLB launched an investigation thereafter. The investigation verified the allegations, leading to Porter's placement on the Ineligible List.
