Javier Baez wins Cubs' Heart and Hustle Award |
CHICAGO — On Tuesday, the nominees from the 30 MLB clubs for the coveted Heart and Hustle Award were announced. While the winner of the main Heart and Hustle Award will be given out by the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) at the 20th annual Legends for Youth Dinner in New York City on Thursday, Nov. 7, the preliminary winners were announced in the form of each club nominating its own winner.
For the Chicago Cubs, shortstop Javier Baez was named the Heart and Hustle Award winner, as Cubs alumni elected the electrifying middle infielder as the Cubs' representative for the prestigious honor this year. According to MLB, the award honors players who "demonstrate a passion for the game of baseball and best embody the values, spirit and traditions of the game," making Baez the perfect candidate, as he is a positive force for the Cubs on and off the field.
