Cubs News: Maddon speaks out on Ben Zobrist's possible return

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs are still without the services of veteran Ben Zobrist as he has been on a leave of absence as he deals with a divorce from his wife Julianna.

Cubs manager Joe Maddon spoke with the media Tuesday and said he thinks there is a chance that Zobrist will not be back this season.

“I have to think that way, absolutely," he said. "I hope that’s not the case. But he’s at the point now where if he chose to come back, it’s going to take him a while to get back up to speed, too. We have to mentally be prepared that we will not have him.”

Zobrist is batting .241 with 10 RBI in 26 games this season.

CubsHQ would like to wish Ben and his family the best as they deal with this very stressful time in their lives.
