Cubs News: MiLB releases statement on reports of possible reduction of teams

by - Senior Editor -

Several media outlets reported on Tuesday that MLB baseball would be reducing significantly the number of minor league teams moving forward post-pandemic.

Minor League Baseball released the following statement calling the reports inaccurate.

"Recent articles on the negotiations between MiLB and Major League Baseball are largely inaccurate. There have been no agreements on contraction or any other issues. MiLB looks forward to continuing the good faith negotiations with MLB on Wednesday as we work toward an agreement that best ensures the future of professional baseball throughout the United States and Canada."

Business is business, but I would hate to see baseball not being played in many towns around the country that adore minor league baseball. It's a fabric and way of life of many small towns as well as jobs that are needed for many.
