by - Senior Writer -

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — On hand for Sunday's MLB Little League Classic between the Chicago Cubs and the Pittsburgh Pirates, Cubs President of Baseball Operations Theo Epstein addressed the media at BB&T Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field prior to the game. Epstein discussed the status of the Cubs, including injured catcher Willson Contreras and veteran utility man Ben Zobrist, who is currently on the restricted list..

According to Epstein, Contreras, who is currently on the injured list due to a severely strained right hamstring, is no longer experiencing pain and is progressing well through his rehab. Barring any setbacks, Contreras is expected to resume playing in early September. As for Zobrist, his minor-league stint has impressed Epstein, and, according to Epstein, Zobrist, who is currently playing for the Triple-A Iowa Cubs, will continue rehabbing in the minor leagues at least through next weekend.
