Two Cubs staffers test positive for COVID-19

by - Senior Editor -

You knew it would happen during this COVID-19 pandemic.

Two Chicago Cubs staffers have tested positive for the coronavirus announced by Cubs general manager Jed Hoyer on Monday. The club has not released the name of the two individuals.

The two staffers will not be at the start of training camp as they will be delayed for a few weeks at the beginning of summer camp until they are fully recovered from COVID-19 and not contagious.

CubsHQ would like to wish the two staffers that got COVID-19 a full healthy recovery.

“To this point, we have not had any players test positive,” Hoyer said.

The player testing has just started in Chicago, and the majority of those tests will begin on Wednesday.

Hoyer also said that no players on the 60-man roster or any coaches had informed the team of any intent to opt-out of the 2020 season.

Spring training 2.0 will begin on Friday.
