WATCH: Almora makes incredible leaping catch in front of wall

by - Senior Writer -

Although it was not a homer-robbing catch, the incredible leaping grab pulled off by Chicago Cubs center fielder Albert Almora Jr. in the fifth frame against the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday was spectacular, nonetheless. Snagging the well-hit ball right in front of the 387-feet sign in left-center field at Great American Ball Park, Almora robbed Reds second baseman Derek Dietrich of an extra-base hit.

Almora jumped in front of the wall and made the backhanded catch in midair, thereby preventing the baseball from hitting off the wall for what would have resulted in at least a double for Dietrich. Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks was both grateful and dumbfounded by Almora's effort on the web gem, as he placed his hands on top of his head in amazement and then breathed a huge sigh of relief.
