CHICAGO — With a storybook moment that brought forth plenty of excitement at Wrigley Field, Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo hammered a solo home run in the third inning on Thursday. Rizzo was shockingly inserted into the starting lineup on Thursday evening after being expected to miss the entire week due to a sprained ankle.

Rizzo's 27th dinger of the year tied the St. Louis Cardinals up at 1-1 in the bottom of the third. Coming on a fastball thrown by Cardinals starter Jack Flaherty, the solo shot carried 394 feet out to left-center field after leaving the bat at 103 miles per hour. Rizzo was pumped up while rounding the bases, and his teammates celebrated with him when he returned to the dugout.
