WATCH: Comedian Jeff Garlin trashes Alex Rodriguez during Cubs broadcast

by - Senior Writer -

Notable Chicago native and Chicago Cubs fan Jeff Garlin, a standup comedian who stars on the hit show Curb Your Enthusiasm, joined Cubs television broadcasters Len Kasper and Jim Deshaies in the booth during the Cubs' contest against the Colorado Rockies at Wrigley Field on Thursday. A semi-regular guest of Cubs broadcasts, Garlin, a passionate baseball fan, is known for his straightforward candor, and he did not hold back on Thursday.

When the conversation turned to Garlin mentioning an appearance that he recently made on ESPN Radio, the blunt comic abruptly broke in to critical commentary of ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball telecast. In particular, Garlin levied heavy criticism concerning commentator Alex Rodriguez, who has been criticized by countless MLB fans for his commentating since joining the ESPN booth last year.

Referring to Rodriguez as a "terrible" announcer and calling him out for "cheating" the game of baseball, which alluded to Rodriguez's past PED usage, Garlin exclaimed that he loathes having to suffer through ESPN's broadcasts of Cubs games. Deshaies and Kasper could not help but laugh as Garlin worked himself into a frenzy while talking about the disdain that he has for "A-Rod" and ESPN's baseball telecasts. In addition, Garlin enthusiastically read an advertisement for NBC Sports Chicago while on air and also sang a rousing rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" that the fans at the Friendly Confines seemed to really enjoy.
