WATCH: Contreras nails line-drive off head of Red Sox pitcher

by - Senior Editor -

This was scary stuff.

Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras hit a rocket that nailed Red Sox pitcher Rick Porcello on the side of the head and it caromed all the way to right centerfield for a single.

Porcello was obviously knocked down on the play but somehow was OK on the play and stayed in the ballgame after the trainers and manager Alex Cora checked him out. He threw a couple of warmup pitches and somehow convinced them that he was fine.

Honestly, it's a preseason game, I have no idea why the Red Sox didn't take him out because he might have a concussion.
