WATCH: Contreras shares lighthearted moment with Lorenzo Cain |
Chicago Cubs catcher
Willson Contreras shared a lighthearted moment with Milwaukee Brewers center fielder Lorenzo Cain on Saturday. Cain tried everything that he could to avoid being tagged out as part of an inning-ending double play, but, eventually, he decided to capitulate to a pursuing Contreras.
In the top of the fourth, Brewers right fielder Christian Yelich grounded to Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo, who stepped on first base for the second out of the frame. Cain, who was on first base at the time of the groundout, then decided to try his luck at retreating to first base once Rizzo fired to shortstop Javier Baez at second base. Of course, with Rizzo having touched first base, the force out at second base was nullified, meaning that Cain could freely go back to first base. Therefore, Cain tried his best to avoid being tagged before Contreras came all the way out to the basepath between first and second and tagged Cain out himself. Cain could not help but smile and share a laugh and a high five with Contreras before heading to the dugout after his comical, yet admirable, base-running display. It's still a game after all. ?? #GoCubsGo @Cubs pic.twitter.com/dCvHZZFKdO
