CHICAGO — With the moment that all of the Chicago Cubs fans in attendance were waiting for, new Cubs closer Craig Kimbrel entered with the Cubs leading the Atlanta Braves 9-7 heading into the ninth inning on Thursday. Kimbrel's trademark entrance song, "Sweet Child o' Mine" by Guns N' Roses, blared over the loudspeakers as Kimbrel departed the bullpen with the bleacher creatures giving him a standing ovation and jogged to the mound at Wrigley Field for the first time as a Cub.

Approximately three weeks after agreeing to join the Cubs, Kimbrel made his long-awaited Cubs debut and proceeded to tab his first save in the thrilling win for the North Siders. Kimbrel faced some adversity when the Braves put runners on first and second with two outs, thereby bringing the potential go-ahead run to the plate, but first baseman Anthony Rizzo made a great defensive play to finish off the win and hand Kimbrel the first save of his Cubs tenure.
