WATCH: Descalso jacks leadoff home run to give Cubs early lead |
The Chicago Cubs wasted no time in taking the lead in the opener of their 2-game set with the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday. More specifically, leadoff hitter
Daniel Descalso wasted no time in doing so. Driving the second pitch of the game over the wall in right-center field at T-Mobile Park, Descalso provided the Cubs with an early 1-0 advantage.
Descalso got underneath a sinker thrown at the bottom of the strike zone by Mariners ace Felix Hernandez and sent it sailing 393 feet for his second dinger of the season. The round-tripper marked the first home run out of the leadoff spot for the Cubs this year, making the North Siders the last of the 30 MLB teams to obtain a leadoff bomb in 2019.
