WATCH: Descalso stays hot, hits 2-out RBI single |
For the second straight night, Chicago Cubs second baseman
Daniel Descalso put the Cubs on the board against the Miami Marlins. After securing the first RBI of the night on Tuesday, Descalso did the same on Wednesday with a 2-out single that plated catcher
Willson Contreras.
Contreras set up the RBI by tabbing a 2-out double in the previous at-bat. Descalso then drove a sinker from Marlins pitcher Sandy Alcantara into left-center to put the Cubs ahead 1-0 in the top of the second. Playing in his first season as a member of the Cubs, Descalso has seven RBI to his name. He is 6-for-11 with runners in scoring position this year, after hitting just .202 with runners in scoring position last year.
