WATCH: Heyward skies walk-off home run to opposite field

by - Senior Writer -

For the second night in a row, the Chicago Cubs defeated the Miami Marlins at Wrigley Field by way of a walk-off home run. After third baseman Kris Bryant went yard with a 3-run shot in the bottom of the ninth to defeat the Marlins on Tuesday, it was right fielder Jason Heyward's turn to tab a walk-off blast on Wednesday.

Heyward led off the bottom of the 11th and slapped a fifth-pitch slider thrown by Marlins reliever Jose Quijada to the opposite field for a solo shot that carried just over the wall in left field, landing in the basket above the ivy. The 370-foot dinger, which left the bat at 100 miles per hour, provided Heyward with his sixth home run and 18th RBI of the season and lifted the Cubs over the Marlins by a final score of 3-2. Heyward now has two walk-off homers and six walk-off RBI in his career.
