WATCH: Highlights from Cubs' 15-inning walk-off triumph over Brewers

by - Senior Writer -

CHICAGO, Ill. — The Chicago Cubs (23-14) and the Milwaukee Brewers (24-17) engaged in a war of attrition at Wrigley Field on Saturday, with neither team tallying a single hit with a runner in scoring position during the 15-inning duel. Cubs catcher Willson Contreras did not need a runner in scoring position to provide his team with the winning run, however, as he drilled a 424-foot walk-off home run in the bottom of the 15th to lift the Cubs to a 2-1 win over the Brewers.

Contreras' 10th home run of the season served as the third walk-off homer in the last five games for the Cubs, who have made a habit out of earning thrilling victories at Wrigley Field during their current homestand. In addition to Contreras powering out the winning hit, Cubs reliever Tyler Chatwood was named the winning pitcher after tossing four scoreless frames in extra innings.
