WATCH: Highlights from Cubs' 5-2 victory over Mets

by - Senior Writer -

NEW YORK — Fresh off a disheartening sweep, the Chicago Cubs (70-61) returned to winning form with a 5-2 victory over the New York Mets (67-64) on Tuesday. Catalyzed by shortstop Javier Baez and starting pitcher Yu Darvish, the Cubs took care of business at Citi Field.

The North Siders hit a pair of 2-run homers on the evening, with second baseman Addison Russell hitting one an inning prior to Baez smacking one that bounced off the top of the wall before going out. On the mound, Darvish produced his longest outing as a Cub by pitching eight innings of 1-run ball.
