PITTSBURGH — In addition to smacking his third leadoff blast of the season, Chicago Cubs center fielder
Ian Happ set a new franchise record on Tuesday. Passing former Cubs switch hitter Augie Galan with his 60th home run in a Cubs uniform, Happ set the all-time Cubs record for the most homers hit by a switch hitter.
A Pittsburgh native, Happ placed the Pittsburgh Pirates into an early 1-0 hole by taking Pirates pitcher Chad Kuhl deep on the second pitch of the game. The 434-foot blast hit out to right came with Happ batting from the left side of the plate. The impressive long ball left PNC Park and bounced toward the Allegheny River.
