WATCH: Jake Marisnick smashes go-ahead 416-foot blast |
CHICAGO — After the Chicago Cubs left the bases loaded in bottom of the first on Monday, center fielder
Jake Marisnick helped make up for that missed opportunity by leading off with a 416-foot home run in the bottom of the second. The go-ahead dinger carried out to straightaway center field, putting the Cubs up 1-0 over the Philadelphia Phillies.
Starter Matt Moore gave up the blast at Wrigley Field on a 92.6-mph four-seamer thrown over the plate, with Marisnick powering it off the bat at 100.7 mph and 25 degrees. Marisnick, who came into the contest having tallied two hits on Sunday, now has five round-trippers and 18 RBIs on the season. .@JSMarisnick squares it up! #CubTogether @BinnysBev pic.twitter.com/w5SGBrmGDh Bartender, jack! pic.twitter.com/qmH6ABKx0G #Phillies 0 @ #Cubs 1 [B2-0o]:
