WATCH: Jason Heyward throws ball to little girl celebrating her birthday |
CHICAGO — A section of Chicago Cubs fans at Wrigley Field on Monday night caught the attention of Cubs outfielder
Jason Heyward by singing "Happy Birthday to You" to a little girl celebrating her birthday in the bleachers behind right field. The birthday girl came prepared with a flashy poster that essentially asked the Cubs to win in honor of her birthday, and the Cubs did just that by topping the Atlanta Braves 8-3.
Known as a gentle giant with a good heart, Heyward threw a baseball that had been used in warmup tosses between innings into the stands as a one-of-a-kind birthday present for the young girl, and nearby fans ensured that the ball made its to way to the youngster. In a heartwarming moment, the girl excitedly hugged her mom after receiving the priceless souvenir that made her special day even more special.
