WATCH: Rizzo dings 421-foot dong to give Cubs early lead

by - Senior Writer -

Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo wasted no time in dinging a dong against the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday. Smoking a no-doubter to center field in the top of the first, Rizzo picked up his team-high 16th home run of the season to put the Cubs ahead 1-0.

The 421-foot blast at Busch Stadium came on a changeup thrown by Cardinals starter Jack Flaherty, with Rizzo making perfect contact and sending the blast flying off the bat at 106 miles per hour. Rizzo's 2-out solo shot marked the first home run in the month of June for the Cubs, coming after the Cubs set a new club record for homers hit in a single month by going yard 51 times in May.
