WATCH: Rizzo drives home Schwarber with RBI single off Arrieta

by - Senior Writer -

Squaring off against former Chicago Cubs teammate and current Philadelphia Phillies ace Jake Arrieta, Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo won the duel with an RBI single in the bottom of the third on Monday. Rizzo drove a slider thrown by Arrieta out to right field that plated left fielder Kyle Schwarber to break a scoreless tie and give the Cubs a 1-0 lead.

The outing marked Arrieta's first start at Wrigley Field since he departed to join the Phillies after playing for the Cubs from 2013 to 2017. Schwarber set up the scoring opportunity with a leadoff triple two at-bats prior to Rizzo's, and the base knock provided "Big Rizz" with his 31st RBI of the year.
