WATCH: Rizzo swats solo shot for his 11th homer of season

by - Senior Writer -

For the seventh time in his last 16 games, Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo went yard on Sunday night against the Washington Nationals. Rizzo showcased that he is just fine after his recent injury layoff due to back tightness by swatting a solo shot to lead off the third inning.

The 385-foot blast came on a sweet swing that sent a fastball thrown by Nationals starter Jeremy Hellickson over the wall in left field. Leaving the bat at 100 miles per hour, Rizzo's 11th home run of the season provided the Cubs with a 3-0 lead. On his way back to the dugout, the fun-loving Rizzo had some fun with his teammates by wagging his tongue at them, as if to say that he is back to his usual self.
