SAN DIEGO — Despite experiencing a historic MLB debut and leading the Chicago Cubs to a 10-2 victory at Petco Park over the San Diego Padres on Monday night, shortstop Nico Hoerner still could not avoid suffering the rookie treatment following the game. Hoerner was called up earlier in the day and became the first Cub since 1951 to tab three hits and four RBI in his first career major-league appearance.
After the Cubs' win, Hoerner was interview from the dugout by Cubs broadcasters Jim Deshaies and Len Kasper. Hoerner, who is a California native, discussed what is was like to play in front of his family and experience such a successful introduction to the big leagues. A special guest interrupted Hoerner's postgame interview, though, as Cubs catcher Willson Contreras could not help himself when presented with the opportunity to videobomb Hoerner, making for a hilarious moment.
