Cubs News: Willson Contreras leaves game due to apparent hamstring injury |
CHICAGO — Chicago Cubs catcher
Willson Contreras might find himself on the injured list not long after being removed from it, as the backstop seemed to injure his hamstring while bolting out of the batter's box on Saturday. In the seventh inning of the Cubs' matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers at Wrigley Field, Contreras pulled up lame while running to first base and was forced to leave the game.
Contreras smacked a liner to left-center, which was caught for an out, that resulted in him almost immediately aggravating his hamstring on his sprint down the baseline. After Contreras hobbled to first, he was able to walk off the field under his own power but was visibly upset once he reached the dugout. As a result, Contreras, who recently overcame a foot injury, was removed from the contest and replaced behind the plate by Victor Caratini.
